I think I'm a snob!?!

I don't know if snob is the right word, but when we put the carpet in the basement, with the new fireplace and stuff, well I just didn't want to put my old crappy furniture in that beautiful room. Bill just happened to agree with me, so we went furniture shopping last Saturday and made ourselves a purchase! Two new leather couches, from Odell's. They are pretty nice, on each end of the sofa the seats recline and on the love seat there is a console in the center for the remotes and two cup holders. Anyone who knows my husband understands the need for those!!! And the seats are independent rockers and recliners. But boy furniture is a lot more expensive than I had planned that's for sure, but we were still able to buy them, paid in full with cash, so apparently that makes it OK! Now Bill said we need to get that flat screen TV instead of a toilet and vanity for the bathroom, WHAT!?!? That boy needs to get his priorities straight!!!

It's my best idea yet!!

Cierra told me the other day that the playroom was my best idea ever!!! Apparently nothing can measure up to a room just for toys. Since it didn't have to match with bedding I let the girls pick out the color. Windjammer Blue! Its a great color, but its kinda dark and makes the room feel a little smaller. But its a cheerful blue. I love it! And so do the girls and thats what counts, right?

Random "House Photo" Tag

Julie tagged me and since I haven't been a regular poster lately I thought I could participate.
You've been tagged. Here is what you do: grab your camera and take at least 5 random pictures around your house. No cleaning up first, this is your house as is:
Here is some catergories you could use: Room that stays the cleanest Work in progress What someone else is doing right now Favorite decor or display Something that represents your current life Favorite relaxing spot Something hand-me-down Etc. etc.
This is not really a room, but it represents whats new in our life. Last week we bought 1/2 a Beef and I can't believe how much freezer space it takes up!

I don't know if everyone has one, but I do! (sad thing is I have more than one) This is the collection spot in my house. This is where I dump anything that either doesn't have a place, hasn't made it to its place because I am to lazy to put it there, or needs a temporary place. This is the battle zone. Hello, my name is Tammie and I am a stacker! I am sure its hereditary, my mom is the same way (sorry mom!), but I can never seem to find a place to put all the stuff I have that needs a place. My dresser in my room and well pretty much any other flat surface in my house gets stacked , but this and my dresser are the worst!

This picture and the next one are because of Jesse. The basement is sort of move in ready...well he's ready to move in! This is his bedroom upstairs after we moved the bed. I didn't quite get the picture in time to get all of the junk, because there was more, but he got to it before I did. Seriously has the kid ever heard of a garbage can????

Bill takes great pride in stating that he came into this marriage with 7 boxes and a footlocker full of stuff from his mission. This is the remainder of a couple of Jesse's 10 boxes that it took to move him from one bedroom to another, 7 of them were out in the garage from when we moved him from the basement in the first place! He is totally incapable of throwing ANYTHING away! You can see the red binder at the bottom, he had 7 empty binders and folders galore in there. GAAAAHHHH!!!!

This is our new bathroom in the basement. Right now it is the holding place for anything Bill might need to finish the rest of the miscellaneous stuff left to do in the basement. This will all come out when we are able to fit it back into the garage and everything in the garage is back in the basement. Tricky huh?

Well I didn't have any pictures of anyone doing anything, but this is the disarray that my house happens to be in at the moment. I tag Debbie, Jana, and Billie! Really I would love to see everyone do this so TAG YOUR IT!

Why don't you come with me little girl, on a magic carpet ride!

YAY!!! We got the carpet in our basement today!!! (Kinda) Since there is a little bit of a story I will tell you. In the two bedrooms in the basement we decided to cove the carpets instead of baseboard. Why? you ask...I hate cleaning and painting baseboards and they really don't look good after a while, so I figured in the basement bedrooms it wouldn't matter too much. Plus I like the way it looks. Anyway, we picked out a metal stripping that goes along the top edge of the coving. It was a dark brass and really blended well with the carpet. They came today and told me they couldn't get the stripping we wanted so did I want to use shiny brass or silver or have the top edge bound. Not much of a choice, the funny thing is he's the one that suggested the stripping we picked. So now the carpet is laid, but I have to wait a few days for the binding on the carpet to be finished so they can come and put it up. BUT...It looks really great!!!! What do you think? Come check it out.

True Aggie!?!

Ahhh to be young and in college again. Do you know what a true Aggie is? Well I'm not...but maybe someday! If anyone knows my family you would know that my husband and son are huge Utah State fans. So for Jesse's room in the basement we are going with an Aggie theme. Here is the taped out block A and then what it looked like when we finished. What do you think? I have been thinking of putting vinyl letters "aggies" across the middle of the A in white and maybe Utah State in vinyl letters on the drop where the duct work is. Then he has a Utah State clock we'll do letters that say "Its Aggie Time" around it. I haven't decided what to do for bedding yet. No where out there is collegiate bedding for the Aggies so I may have to make my own. We'll see. I'll do a later post when were finished to show the final product.
