Cierra's Field Trip

What kind of field trips did you do as a kid? I remember going to Hogle Zoo..way different than it is now. Hostess factory in salt lake was one of my favorites, they gave us these little mini loaves of wonder bread, I remember bringing it home and my mom made them into little sandwiches. And we went to Deseret News/SL Tribune, that was when they shared a press and one printed in the am and the other in the pm. We also went to the Golden Spike and watched the program they put on for the driving of the stake. We even went to Thiokol and watched them test a Rocket booster engine for the Space Shuttle. I can't remember any of the others, but I remember the sack lunch the school packed for us...A bologna and cheese sandwich, chips, an apple and a carton of milk. Wierd I can remember that, but it was the same everytime! Now I am enjoying field trips with my kids. In Boise they had a great Childrens Museum and I went there with Jesse twice, I've gone with Abbie and Cierra to the Zoo and the other day I got to go with the first grade to the museum. Its acutally an interesting exhibit, old cars and bicycles. But 1 hour in a museum with 60 1st graders is a little bit long. Too long when they can't touch a thing! I wish they had a childrens museum in I.F. Anyway here are a few pictures of the kids I took in my group. They wouldn't let us take pictures inside the museum though so I didn't get any of the kids inside. Oh well, it was a day well spent with my daughter!

The mind of a six year old???

I have discovered it wouldn't matter if I was around...because Cierra can fix her own meals now! Cierra decided Friday night she was going to make her own dinner take a look and see what you think. Is this what every six year old wants for dinner?
A glass of water, 1 hot dog, 2 slices of bread with butter and cinnamon sugar, a bag of doritos from Halloween and graham crackers. What do you think...balanced?

Painful...Yes!, but fun to watch!

For Christmas this year we got guitar hero world tour. Jesse really likes it, he loves the singing, the guitar and the drums. Risa and Ray came up yesterday and spent the day, we talked for a while and when the kids got home they played Mario Cart and Guitar Hero. He decided to show us how awesome he really is, so along with playing the drums he sang a song at the same time. Its quite a feat if you don't know all the words to the song (and as you can tell, he doesn't), but he gives it his best shot. It was so funny I couldn't resist recording a snipet of it on my camera. Laugh and enjoy, but you can't help but love the kid even more with his endearing nature!!!

What's in a gift?

Thanks to the thoughtfulness of my good friend Joy I was surprised by my husband at Christmas! I know a husband should be capable of surprising on his own, but mine forgets my birthday so I am OK with the fact that he needs a little help in that area. I went to an 'at home America' party at Joy's house and fell in love with the giant fork and spoon in the catalog, but because I am to cheap to spend the money on stuff to decorate my house Joy was the little bird in Bills ear telling him that's what I wanted so he paid her for them, she ordered them and VOILA! I truly love them and they look great on my wall! Take a look, and thanks Joy!
On another note:
OK apparently everyone thought I was being too hard on myself in the last post, I didn't mean to give off that impression. Mostly I was just declaring my frustration at the fact that I am not the person I want to be and stating that I can acknowledge I may just be to lazy to get there. Really I am OK with that! (kinda) I know church should be this uplifting, rejuvenating thing, and most of the time it is, but some days when I come home I feel just the opposite and that's how it was on Sunday. Our RS lesson was on faith, and since my surgery 6 years ago and the other health problems I have had, faith is the one place where I struggle the most and get the most frustrated. Thanks for all the words of support from you guys you helped snap me out of it. Sorry to bring you down! I love you all and appreciate your friendship! Thanks!!!!

The road to where????

Have you ever heard the term the road to hell is paved with good intentions??? I figure I am in the fast lane! I have always been a person with big ideas and no ambition to complete them. I want to homemake everything I do and I think and think and then when I can't come up with something I do nothing or it seems like I should have done nothing by the time I'm finished. For example: Christmas Cards and neighbor gifts. I always promise myself that Christmas cards will be ready by Thanksgiving and I will have my neighbor gifts done in July so I don't have to worry about it come Christmas. That has NEVER happened yet! I wanted to have our family picture done and great cards made. This is the picture I took of my kids for the card and it was put into a photo card frame and mailed the week of Christmas. Now there's nothing wrong with that if thats what my plan had been, but my plan was big and required planning and work, so I just kept putting it off till I had to do something, anything. But here's the picture, not too bad, but the camera focused on a snowflake not the kids.
I have been browsing through everyones New Year's Resolutions posts and every year mine looks similar. Read and prepare for the sunday lessons every week, get up before the kids and work out, read my scriptures daily, eat more healthy, keep a journal, lose 30 lbs, say morning prayers with the kids, ok at least lose 10 lbs, keep my house cleaner, attend the temple weekly, be better at following a budget, don't conveniently forget to fast each month, maybe even bear my testimony twice a year, be more organized, be more spiritually in tune, serve my neighbors...wait maybe just talk to my neighbors would be a good start, try not to be so afraid of life....and the list goes on, and on, and on, and on. Well you get the picture. I don't think I have ever actually made it to April with my goals, wait I take that back I exercised for two years at least 3 times a week and gained weight! BLAHHH!! Maybe this year my goal should be to make no goals then I won't be an absolute failure, I would have succeeded at least once right? Nah! What fun would that be! Isn't it sad the my only resolution for the year is to wish I was completely different instead of embracing who I am!
