At church I am the teacher of the 3 going on 4 year olds. We call them SUNBEAMS! And they are just that, bright as the sun, their smiles warm you inside and out and they have such joy about life! I love my calling and I love these kids so much they are so fun to teach. I am a person that gets really big ideas and then they end up a lot smaller the closer we get because I am such a procrastinator. Another of those faults I need to overcome!!!
I wanted to do something special for their Birthdays and I didn't have the list at the first of the year and when I got it 2 kids had already had their birthdays. So I decided to have a party in the summer for them to celebrate all their birthdays at once. I had it this past week and lesson learned 4 year olds need more than 5 things in 1 hour to occupy their time!! We had bubbles, then decorated cupcakes, played games and opened presents. I tried to have them do sidewalk chalk on the driveway right at the end but they said it was too hot to be outside. So we came back in and had a drink and finished our cupcakes. I could have used more games though. I think they all had fun. I made the cutest little t-shirts. I tried to base the theme around sunbeam...so I made cupcakes with yellow frosting and they were suppose to decorate them like the sun. And then I made the t-shirt using a sun yellow t-shirt, I put a yellow and orange sun on the front with green words that read I'm a Sunbeam! Cheesy, but I think it turned out pretty cute.
Posing with our shirts...they don't all look that enthused, all but one ended up putting them on. We were missing a few of our class, and wished they would have been able to be here!!!
