Stake Youth Trek

June 11th to the 13th was the stake youth trek to Martins Cove in Wyoming. Jesse was able to have the opportunity to go. He picked the name James Poulson, this was his Great Great Great Grandpa ( I think its 3 greats) that crossed the plains in a handcart company. He was able to read a book that was written about his life before he left which I think made the name a little more special to him. Jesse is on the Stake Youth Committee and he was able to be one of the boys that carried someone across the sweetwater as part of the role playing that they did. Our stake had a special fast for the youth before they left to have the weather tempered and that they would be able to be touched by the spirit. It rained pretty much the whole time they were there so who knows what the weather could have been like, but the Stake Presidency helped them realize that this weather was nothing compared to some of the conditions that the saints had to endure on thier trek. Jesse didn't come home with some fantastic story of how the spirit touched his life, but rather a reverence for those that came before and the hard ships they had to endure. Right now I don't think he even realizes the impact it has had on his life, sometimes we don't realize it until we look back and reflect later in our lives. He did have a good experience and I am glad he was able to participate.
Here are the before and after pictures!
The morning they left, picture taken at 3:53am. Does he look like a pioneer. Jesse getting off of the bus Saturday night. I wanted to get a picture of all the busses, but I could only get 4, if I would have gone to the back I probably could have gotten them all....I think there were at least 7 though. Next time I go through Wyoming and I see 7 busses I'll know where their going!
