Relief Society Birthday Dinner
For our RS Birthday dinner they had a sign up to decorate a table. I had some dishes that Bill's parents gave us that were his great aunts, they were white and blue (Bill was not happy I used them though!) I was talking with my mom telling her I had them and wanted to use them and as we were thinking we came up with a 50's theme. Records, Milkshakes, and Poodles oh my!!!
I found these Soda Fountain glasses at the DI. I filled them with Whoppers, and topped them with cotton candy and I found some gummy cherries. I took the picture before I put the straw in but the straw topped it off and I thought they turned out pretty cute.
I made these cute bowl out of records (although I didn't think anyone should eat out of them). I bought full sized records at the DI also and melted them in the oven over a bowl then formed them into this shape. I made the record centers on the computer to cover the fact that they weren't albums from the 50's!!
I felt like my table was too bare though there wasn't enough oomph! The centerpiece was suppose to be a dessert. I made a two layer chocolate cake with whipped chocolate ganache to put the cakes together and another layer of ganache on the outside that hardens. It was way to chocolaty for me, but it was still tasty...if you had a gallon of milk with it. For the Ganache you use semi-sweet chocolate, but if I make it again I will definitely use milk chocolate instead.

Volleyball time Again
Volleyball season is always a really fun time for us. I love watching Abbie play! Her team has most of the same girls she played with last year on it and even though its only their second year playing most are 11 or almost 11 so they bumped their team up to the 12U category. The teams that these girls are playing look so much different most look like they are probably 12 already and the teams look like they've played together for quite a while. Our girls still struggle with the overhand serves, but they are improving!! They didn't win any of their matches, but they still managed to get pretty good scores.
Abbie got a hold of this ball, but it ended up on the wrong side of the post.
Here's her serve, something that she's working on constantly, I wish our house was brick and not sided so she had a nice wall to practice against! The first week she didn't get a single serve over the net and this week she only missed a couple!
She was digging in good for these!
You'd look like this too.....
If you were constantly doing this!!!! Gotta love what the photographer gets sometimes!!!!

A New Paint Job
I finally did it! After 8 hours of taping and 2 of painting the castle walls over 6 years ago I finally gave in and changed these walls. Its not real easy to see but this is the only picture I can find that has any evidence of the hard work I put into the paint job in this room. Imagine this on all 4 walls! I am sure I have better pictures somewhere I just can't seem to find any so this will have to do for now.
I think it turned out really pretty cute, it gives the room more of a tween look instead of a little girls room, and the girls seem to like it. They were definately ready for the change. I wish it was easier to get a picture of these rooms!
